TEAR TROUGH FILLER
Beauty with Precision, Confidence with Ease

Tear troughs refer to the hollowed area beneath the eyes, which can contribute to the appearance of dark circles, shadowing, and under-eye bags. These concerns may arise due to genetics, ageing, or volume loss over time.
Tear trough filler is a specialised treatment designed to restore lost volume, smooth the under-eye area, and create a more refreshed and youthful appearance. By carefully administering hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers, the under-eye hollowing can be softened, improving the overall contour and reducing the shadowing effect. While this treatment can significantly enhance the under-eye area, not everyone is a suitable candidate, and a consultation is required to assess suitability.

We use high-quality, hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers that are designed specifically for lip enhancement. These fillers are formulated with Lidocaine to improve patient comfort and ensure a smooth, natural-looking result.
The procedure typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, including consultation, application of a topical anaesthetic, and the injection process.
Most patients experience minimal discomfort due to the topical anaesthetic and Lidocaine in the filler. Some mild swelling or tenderness is normal post-treatment and subsides within a few days.
Results typically last between 9 to 12 months, depending on individual metabolism, lifestyle, and maintenance treatments.
Initial swelling may cause the lips to appear fuller immediately after treatment. The final result is visible within 7 to 14 days once the swelling has subsided and the filler has fully integrated.
Common side effects include mild swelling, redness, bruising, or tenderness, which typically resolve within a few days. Rare but serious complications, such as vascular occlusion, are minimised by precise injection techniques.
Yes, hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be reversed using hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the filler.
Lip enhancement is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection at the injection site, have a history of severe allergic reactions to dermal fillers or Lidocaine, or are taking blood-thinning medications unless advised otherwise by a doctor.
To minimise the risk of bruising and swelling, it is advised to avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E, or ginkgo biloba for at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. Staying well-hydrated and ensuring lips are moisturised can also help improve treatment outcomes.
Mild swelling, tenderness, and bruising are common and usually resolve within a few days. To promote optimal healing, avoid excessive touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the lips for at least 24 hours. It is also recommended to refrain from strenuous exercise, excessive heat exposure (such as saunas or sunbeds), and alcohol consumption for 48 hours post-treatment. Keeping lips hydrated and applying a gentle, fragrance-free lip balm can aid in maintaining smooth, healthy results.
Tear trough filler can reduce the appearance of hollows, improve mild under-eye bags, and create a smoother transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. It may also help brighten dark circles caused by shadowing, though it does not directly treat pigmentation. In some cases, midface filler may be recommended alongside tear trough filler to ensure optimal support and balance.
Tear trough filler is most effective for individuals with mild to moderate under-eye hollows and shadowing. However, it may not be suitable for those with significant under-eye puffiness, poor skin elasticity, or large eye bags. A consultation is necessary to determine if this treatment is the right option based on individual anatomy and concerns.
Results typically last between 9 to 12 months, though individual factors such as metabolism and lifestyle can influence longevity.
A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment to minimise discomfort. The filler also contains lidocaine, which helps ease any sensation during the procedure.
As with any injectable treatment, some mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur. These effects are usually temporary and resolve within a few days. In rare cases, complications such as persistent swelling or irregularities can occur, which is why treatment should only be performed by an experienced medical professional.
While filler can reduce the shadowing effect, it does not address pigmentation-related dark circles. A combination of skincare, lifestyle modifications, and professional treatments may be required for optimal results.
Avoid alcohol, aspirin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for 48 hours before treatment to minimise the risk of bruising.
If you are prone to cold sores, consult with your practitioner about antiviral medication.
Ensure you are well-hydrated and have eaten a light meal before your appointment.
Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for at least 24 hours.
Refrain from strenuous exercise, saunas, or excessive heat exposure for 48 hours.
Sleep with your head elevated on the first night to reduce swelling.
Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications for 24 hours.
Any mild swelling or bruising should subside within a few days; applying a cold compress can help alleviate discomfort.
If you experience prolonged swelling, uneven results, or any concerning symptoms, contact your practitioner for further assessment.
Before proceeding with the treatment, we conduct a thorough assessment of your entire face to determine suitability and discuss the potential results. We then disinfect the area and carefully mark the correction points.
For the procedure, we exclusively use Teosyal Puresense Redensity 2, the only FDA-approved filler for the under-eye area. This filler contains brightening ingredients and antioxidants, enhancing both the aesthetic outcome and skin quality.
A cannula a blunt-tip instrument is used for the majority of the treatment. It is inserted through a small entry point made with a needle in the cheek area. Because the cannula is blunt, it significantly reduces bruising and swelling while also minimizing the risk of filler entering a blood vessel, making the procedure safer.
All patients receive a detailed aftercare email following their treatment. Below is a summary of key guidelines to ensure optimal healing and results.
Take Arnica tablets, available at any pharmacy, to help reduce bruising and swelling.
Avoid wearing makeup for at least 4 hours post-treatment.
In the evening, you may gently cleanse your face with your regular wash and lotions, but avoid retinols and acids for the first night.
Sleep on your back for one week to prevent unnecessary pressure on the treated area.
If swelling is uncomfortable, you may take Loratadine or Cetirizine (commonly used for hay fever) to help reduce it.
In cases of excessive swelling, contact the clinic to discuss the possibility of a prescription for steroids. However, minor swelling is a natural response and will resolve in time.
Wash your face carefully, avoiding pressure on the treated areas for four weeks.
No strenuous exercise or gardening for at least one week.
Do not massage the treated area for four weeks.
Avoid facials, waxing, or other skin treatments for two weeks.
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatory medications for 24 hours, as they may increase bruising. If needed, you may take paracetamol or codeine for discomfort.
Refrain from alcohol consumption for 24 hours, as it increases the risk of bruising.
Avoid saunas, hot tubs, and tanning beds for two weeks.
Do not undergo radiofrequency, IPL, laser, or heat-based treatments near the treated area for two weeks.
To ensure the best possible outcome and minimize side effects, please follow these guidelines before your appointment:
Discontinue the use of topical retinols, glycolic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid five days before treatment. However, if you have been using these products long-term and stopping may cause a skin flare-up, please consult us for individual advice.
Stop taking Vitamin E supplements and ibuprofen/Nurofen five days before treatment. If you are on aspirin or other prescribed medication, continue use as directed by your GP.
Avoid facial laser treatments, microneedling, and chemical peels for one week before and after your treatment.
Refrain from alcohol consumption 24 hours before and after your procedure.
Eat a light meal and stay hydrated before your appointment to prevent lightheadedness during the procedure.
Taking 1g of paracetamol (two tablets) 30-60 minutes before the appointment can help minimize discomfort.
Arrive alone for your appointment, as space in the clinic is limited. Any accompanying persons will be asked to wait outside the building.
Come makeup-free and wear minimal jewelry for your appointment.
If you are flying within the next three days, we will not be able to proceed with dermal filler treatment. This is due to the small risk of vascular occlusion within the first 48 hours. However, wrinkle-relaxing injections and Profhilo treatments are unaffected by travel.
